Wholesale Furniture Suppliers

Furniture is bulky, so freight, assembly and damage dominate the real cost more than the factory price does. Check flat-pack quality, fire and chemical rules in your market and how replacement parts are handled before you buy volume.

Buying guide: Furniture

Freight decides the economics

Furniture takes up a lot of space compared with its value. Carton dimensions, weight and how many units fit a container or pallet often matter more than a small difference in unit price. Ask for packed dimensions and weights for every item, and work out landed cost including delivery to the end customer. Large items may need two-person delivery or a tail-lift, which adds cost and affects who will carry your range.

Construction and materials

  • Solid wood: heavier and more expensive. Ask about the species and how the wood is dried, since poorly dried timber warps.
  • Engineered board: MDF, particleboard and plywood are common in flat-pack. Check edge sealing and the grade, as cheap board swells with moisture.
  • Metal frames: check coating, weld quality and weight rating.
  • Upholstery: foam density, fabric rub resistance and frame material determine how long a sofa or chair lasts.
  • Outdoor furniture: needs weather-rated materials and coatings.

Ask for a weight capacity for chairs, beds and shelves, and whether it has been tested.

Compliance

Rules vary a lot by market. Upholstered furniture is subject to fire-resistance rules in several countries, including the United Kingdom and parts of the United States, and the exact standards differ. Board products can be subject to formaldehyde emission limits, and timber sold in the European Union falls under timber-origin rules. Children's furniture and cots are stricter. Check the rules for your market, and ask the supplier for test reports against the standard you need, not a general statement.

Assembly, parts and returns

Most furniture arrives flat-packed, so instruction quality and a complete hardware kit decide customer satisfaction. Missing screws and unclear instructions are the common complaints. Ask whether spare hardware is included and whether you can order replacement parts, panels and legs separately. Agree how damaged or incomplete units are handled, because shipping a replacement for a large item is costly.

Seasonality and margins

Indoor furniture sells through the year with peaks around moving seasons and the end-of-year period, while garden furniture is strongly seasonal and needs ordering well ahead of spring. Margins on furniture can be reasonable in percentage terms, but freight, storage space, handling and returns consume a lot. Imported lookalike designs are common, so check whether you are buying a design that a larger retailer may also sell, which compresses your price.

Order sizes

Suppliers commonly sell by container load or part load, with minimums per model. Mixed-model containers are common but each model has its own minimum. Ask about pallet quantities, and whether you may inspect goods before shipment.

What to ask a supplier

  • What are the packed dimensions, weight and units per container?
  • Which test reports do you hold for fire, emissions or load?
  • Are spare parts available, and at what cost?
  • What is the damage and missing-parts policy?
  • Can a third party inspect before shipment?
  • How long will the model stay in production?

Frequently asked questions

What should I check beyond the unit price?

Check packed dimensions, weight and units per container, since freight often outweighs small price differences. Also ask about spare parts and the damaged-goods policy.

Does upholstered furniture need fire testing?

In several markets it does, and the standards differ. Check the rules for your market and ask the supplier for a test report against the correct standard.

How can I reduce assembly complaints?

Review the instructions and hardware kit in a sample unit, and ask for spare fixings to be included. Clear photos in your listing help set expectations.

Is pre-shipment inspection worthwhile?

For large or custom orders, usually yes. A third-party inspection can catch finish and dimension problems before the goods leave, when they are cheaper to fix.

How many Furniture suppliers are listed?

WholesalersCatalog currently lists 11 suppliers for this search. Each profile shows a Trust Score, so you can see what has been checked before you get in touch.

Which countries are these suppliers based in?

The largest groups are in United Kingdom (3), United States (1), Spain (1) and Belgium (1).

What minimum order should I expect?

Among suppliers that publish a minimum order, the lowest is no minimum and the median is no minimum. Minimums can vary by product, so confirm them with the supplier.

Do any of these suppliers offer dropshipping?

3 suppliers here list dropshipping (27% of this page).

How do I check that a wholesale supplier is legitimate?

Check the company registration and street address, ask for trade references and start with a sample or small order. Be careful with suppliers who only accept untraceable payment methods. The Trust Score on each profile shows which of these signals we could confirm.
